High Altitude Training vs. Training Mask 2.0 (Sports Performance) Dr. Artour Rakhimov

Hypoxic training for effects of high altitude – High elevation and sports performance

How to train and run for max sports benefits and improved endurance?
Dr. Artour Rakhimov, health educator, writer, breathing teacher and trainer, speaks about high altitude running vs. training with Elevation Mask 2.0.
In order to get the most benefits of high altitude training, a person can go to high altitude and train there or do endurance exercise at the sea level.
High altitude helps to improve sports performance and increase VO2max. The positive effects on endurance are particularly strong after the first trip (that should be about 2-3 weeks long).
However, repeated trips have less strong effect due to reduced physiological abilities to adapt to one stimulus only: low oxygen levels (or hypoxia) that is present in air at high altitude. It is more beneficial, from physiology viewpoint, to adapt to higher CO2 in the inhaled air as well.

Better than high altitude training?

This drawback of high altitude training (hypoxic stimulus only) can be solved with Training Mask that reduces O2 content in the inspired air (due to added resistance), but also increases CO2 content in the lungs and body cells providing hypercapnic training to boost endurance.
